WElink’s UK Operations Director receives MBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours

WElink is delighted to announce that its UK Operations Director, Ray Noble, has been recognised for his services to the renewable energy sector in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours. Ray has received an MBE (Member of the British Empire Medal) for his long and distinguished leadership in clean technology and renewable energy.

WElink’s Chairman, Ajmal Rahman, commented:

‘Ray is a key member of our management team and is an inspiration to many with his long service and dedication to a transformational technological sector in renewables. With Ray’s insight and enthusiasm for renewable solutions, WElink is progressing new ways of embracing the maturity of solar and energy storage across all our business lines.

We are proud to have Ray playing a leading role in our business and no one is more deserving of this award.’

Ray became WElink’s UK Operations Director in 2016 and advises on all aspects of our UK operational requirements for the integration of clean tech and housing, and ensuring our housing developments meet UK regulations. He has over forty years of experience in the renewable energy and clean tech sector starting at ARUP and becoming its Building Engineering Group Director. Ray moved to BP Solar in 1999, at the time the largest Solar module manufacturer in the World and became an advisor to the UK Government for Solar sitting on the Renewables Advisory Board.

Speaking on the news he has been awarded an MBE, Ray said:

‘I have dedicated my career to developing and helping to mature new technologies that meet our appetite for energy in more sustainable ways. Whether its for heating homes or water, powering industry, to powering vehicles – renewable sources offer less polluted and more efficient ways to meet our energy needs. Renewables also offer new skills and job opportunities for thousands of young people as well as skill transfer from other sectors.

The solar sector is now a mature technology with energy storage the next transformational technology on the horizon. I am proud of playing a part in helping get the sector to this stage and am truly humbled to have received this honour for my work.’

Ray continues his advisory role with the UK Government as Co-Chair of the UK Government Solar Strategy and the Technical Advisor to the UK Cabinet Office Solar on Government Estate project. He is also a Senior Advisor on Solar, Storage and Electric Vehicles at the Renewable Energy Association and is the Solar Technical Specialist for APSE through which he continues to advise the Local Authorities on embracing and incorporating renewable technologies.
